The Oscars are this Sunday on March 4th, 2018, and here in L.A. it’s all about awards show season.  Each awards show is surrounded by its own frenzy of fashion do’s and don’ts, Hollywood hair how-to’s, and the never ending quest for glowing and flawless skin.

Jennifer Lawrence Red Carpet Arrivals OscarsMany of the Hollywood stars have their own go-to tricks for getting Oscar worthy skin. For instance, Jennifer Lawrence swears by Epsom salt baths to detoxify and keep all over bloating at bay and also recommends a dandelion and chamomile tea combo to drink away stress, since stress can cause breakouts.

Lupita Nyong’o, star of the breakout blockbuster hit “Black Panther”, prefers to stay au-natural. “I love using natural oils,” she says. “I use avocado oil and Hawaiian kukui oil on my face. I like to keep things natural, simple, and straightforward.”

And 2018 Oscar Nominee for Best Actress, Margot Robbie says “When I put on foundation, I use an eyebrow brush or toothbrush to brush it into my hairline so that it all blends. Especially because I have blonde hair but tanned skin, if I don’t blend it, it looks gross – you can see the foundation in my hair. I do that every single day, and every time my husband [Tom Ackerley] is like, “What are you doing?” And I’m like, “I’m brushing my make-up into my hairline!” And he’s like, “Girls are crazy.”

Margot Robbie Red Carpet SkinSo as you can see there are many ways to get red carpet ready with Oscar worthy skin.  Here are 3 of my easiest tips to getting your skin red carpet ready without having to go under the knife, or resort to needle therapy (injectables).  They are my top tricks to getting the beautiful skin that will have you looking camera ready wherever you go!

Skincare. Start with a face mask to prep the skin with gentle exfoliation. The right face mask can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils, and pull out impurities in the skin; leaving a fresh and clean foundation to work with. Then cleanse with a rich moisturizer, allowing it to be absorbed for about 10 minutes before applying the next steps. Add a bit of shimmering powder to the final process and you’ll have a bit of sparkle and glow to get you through the night!

Diet.  Great skin starts from within. I know you must have heard this a hundred times, but it’s true. A clean and healthy diet, rich in colorful and green leafy veggies, lots of water, and even probiotics, helps to achieve amazing results that last. For a red carpet occasion, start to clean up your diet at least 14-30 days prior to the big night, for best results.

Sleep. Since our bodies boost blood flow to the skin when we sleep, it’s important to get enough sleep for a healthy glow. Human growth hormone (HGH) is also produced during sleep. This hormone increases collagen production and is necessary to repair DNA damage that leads to free-radical damage and premature aging. These repairing, regenerative processes take place when we sleep, so make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep, especially the week before hitting the red carpet!
